Laura Boosinger and Josh Goforth
Some people love Laura Boosinger so much she makes them go weak at the knees. There are fans who believe she has a voice as pure as Doris Day - and that’s close - particularly as she has lashings of sweet ‘n’ feisty Calamity Jane grit and goodness.

Laura is blessed with an “essence of the mountains” spirit that can take you back to a very different era. That hand-me-down tradition is safe and well whenever the treasure is passed to her for safe keeping.

Long ago established as one of the classier performers on the Appalachian old-time circuit, she has developed a faithful following in Europe since first touring here back in 2004. It was standing room only everywhere she appeared thanks to a stage presence and playing style, whether on clawhammer banjo, autoharp or guitar, that few can match.

While the Asheville, North Carolina-based performer has always relished the challenge of dusting down crusty old musical nuggets, she is known for her knack of raising the curtain on a surprise package or two as well.

So, while everyone’s favourite, the album, ‘Down The Road’, featured traditional classics and the odd well-chosen piece of homage to A.P. Carter, and the follow-up CD, ‘Let Me Linger’, was her tribute to the extraordinary Luke Smathers Band, the latest recording - “’Most of All’ - fittingly celebrates a playing partnership with multi-talented Josh Goforth that has won both of them a huge following.

Rightly regarded as two of America’s top roots music names, when they first appeared together in the UK in 2007, they wowed audiences at Glasgow’s big Celtic Connections festival.

Writing in the Herald, Rob Adams said they were “a travelling, real-deal piece of American culture”.

Laura has been invited to appear at the Smithsonian Institution and regularly gets the call to return to Doc Watson’s MerleFest. An outstanding musician, acclaimed fiddler, guitar picker and mandolin player Josh appeared in the film Songcatcher as Fiddlin’ Will and contributed several pieces to the soundtrack.
