Raina Rose home page

Raina RoseBlessed with a gloriously free spirit, Raina Rose’s writing and performing style is alluring and addictive...a creative force so mightily-charged with gutsy gusto, she might some day make the whole world grind to a halt.

Raina has been making music that is quirky, sharply observational and great, for ten years and more, first forming the funky Portland, Oregon folk duo, Gypsy Moths, then spreading her wings to develop a delicious blend of singer-songwriter acoustic indie pop.

With a voice as clear as crystal and honeysuckle sweet, she toured extensively, building a faithful fan base and sharpening her craft after releasing the debut solo album, "Despite the Crushing Weight of Gravity," in 2005.

Many of the most influential characters in the business have had good things to say about this young lady’s stand-out brand of DIY.

Take Tracy Grammer, for instance.

This is what she thought of our songstress:

"If a bottle of champagne could sing, it would sound a lot like Raina Rose: positively effervescent and sparkling with youthful enthusiasm - she's a joy!"

“The Prophet, The Panhandler and The Moon” from 2006, cemented her position as a performer whose troubadour life was doing her good and “End of Endless False Starts” and the 7-track “Black Water” (both from 2009) established her once and for all as a shining light.

These days, Raina divides her base-camp time between Portland and Austin, Texas and the new album, “When May Came” with a major promo push planned in Europe, will surely establish her as a force to be reckoned with on this side of the Atlantic.

In fact, when advance copies went into circulation, the big buzz generated could have contributed to the national grid.

If you get a chance to let Raina Rose turn you on, the best advice we can give is to submit and enjoy.

If she happens to be in the company of playing companions Trevor Smith (banjo/vocals) and Andrew Pressman (bass), you may feel like a Tsunami has hit you.
